Penile Fat Grafting

What is a Penile Fat Grafting?

Penile fat grafting, also known as penile augmentation with fat injections, is a cosmetic procedure designed to increase the girth of the penis by injecting fat harvested from other areas of the body such as the abdomen. The entire penile fat grafting procedure typically takes 1 to 2 hours.

PROCEDURE:

Fat Harvesting: Fat is first removed from a donor site on the body, typically through liposuction. Common areas include the abdomen, thighs, or flanks, where fat is often more abundant.

Purification: The harvested fat undergoes a purification process to remove impurities, excess fluids, and other non-fat materials, ensuring that only the healthiest fat cells are used for injection.

Injection: The purified fat is carefully injected into specific areas of the penile shaft to increase its girth. The fat is injected in small, controlled amounts to avoid uneven distribution.

Integration: Over time, the fat cells integrate with the surrounding tissue. However, the body can naturally reabsorb a portion of the fat over time, which may affect the final volume achieved from the procedure.

Anesthesia: The procedure is typically performed under local anesthesia with sedation or in some cases general anesthesia depending on the patient’s preference and the complexity of the procedure. General anesthesia may be used if the patient prefers to be fully asleep or if the procedure is expected to take long.

Results and Considerations:

Variable Results: Fat grafting results can vary from person to person. The amount of fat reabsorbed by the body can influence the long-term outcome, meaning that some individuals may see a reduction in the initial volume added after the procedure.

Multiple Sessions: Due to potential reabsorption, some patients may require additional fat grafting sessions to achieve the desired, more permanent results.

Gradual Changes: Full results may take several months to become apparent, as the fat integrates and settles into the area. The final volume can take time to stabilize.

Natural Feel: Unlike implants, fat grafting offers a more natural feel to the augmented area, as the fat is your own tissue.

Recovery: After the procedure, patients may experience swelling, bruising, or discomfort around the injection and liposuction sites, which typically subsides within a few weeks.

Follow-Up: Regular follow-up appointments are necessary to monitor results and detect any complications early.

Avoiding Physical Stress: Patients are usually advised to avoid activities that could strain or stress the area (e.g., sexual activity or vigorous exercise) for several weeks after the procedure.
